The Verity Amm Soup Kitchen

Verity Amm is run by a group of three dedicated volunteers from the local community. They cook and provide “hearty” soup lunches for 124 destitute and impoverished elderly people living locally, giving them a social meeting place and the knowledge that others care and remember their plight.

The soup kitchen is old, crumbling and in desperate need of rewiring.  The store room needs refurbishing.

Homes In Zimbabwe helps Verity Amm struggle on by supplying weekly vegetables, fruit, eggs and dried food. The local community also pulls together to help the kitchen, dropping in extra food whenever they can. Even so, demand outstrips supply and the need continues to be desperate as elderly pensioners continue their battle to survive.
