Focus on BS Leon
BS Leon is a medium size home caring for up to 88 elderly residents (24 in frail/nursing care, 41 in residential care and 23 in supported living). In early 2009 the home was struggling. With support from Homes In Zimbabwe, BS Leon committed to significantly improving the care and living conditions of residents.

Josh Pitluk, Chairman BS Leon
Rose McDonald was appointed as Housekeeper in July 2009. She is described as ‘fabulous’ by her team - morale has increased throughout the home and her staff have made huge improvements.
All Homes In Zimbabwe donated food is now properly accounted for: Rose issues food on a daily basis from new store rooms next to the offices; theft has been eliminated; food supplies go much further and the meals are better and more nutritious.
Matron Zivayi Njobela has instigated an on-going painting programme throughout the home. The kitchen floor has been retiled, the walls painted and cockroaches and flies controlled. Inspectors recently announced that the kitchens were the cleanest in Harare.
Dr Mangwira’s clinic is held on BS Leon premises, in return residents receive free medical care. After rigorous checks earlier this year the clinic has been upgraded to a level acceptable to CIMAS (similar to BUPA) and all nursing staff have undergone health checks. As a result the clinic is busier with more local people attending.
Homes In Zimbabwe continues to support BS Leon so that its’ work caring for 88 vulnerable residents can continue and develop. It is just one of the 28 homes Homes In Zimbabwe helps. If you would like to know how a particular home is doing please email us.
